We would like to introduce you to one of our amazing members, Mike Lende. This guy right here needs his own TV Show. He is truly inspirational and his energy is infectious!
Mike is a Registered Health Coach and has been a professional athletic coach for over 20 years. He has been a CEO & VP of various companies, coaching and leading individuals and teams to success. He was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his dedication to coaching.
What inspired you to become a Registered Health Coach?
Like a good portion of the general population, I worked long hours at a desk job and I was over-weight with poor eating habits. I suffered from knee and back pain, sleep apnea and persistent low energy. I was not properly managing my stress levels and this combination of things really hindered me from spending quality time with my loved ones and prevented me from achieving my full potential as a business man. I was my own worst enemy. Realizing I had to make a change, I began "dieting", which of course didn't work. The let down of failure brought me to my lowest point emotionally and physically. It was there that I realized I had to find the strength and motivation from within to become the best I can be.
I began compiling all of the knowledge I had obtained on nutrition, stress management, business and consulted with the best in pro sports. I then completed a health coaching course all the while transforming myself. Forty pounds later, my energy was up and my pain and sleeping problems disappeared.
Having gone through it myself, I now feel so passionate about empowering others to be the best that they can be. It is truly an amazing to have this impact on someone's life. Enabling my clients to achieve a new found energy and overall happiness is the greatest. I have helped people lose weight, gain confidence, achieve better sleep, less stress and even help them with their personal relationships and careers. I am reprogramming the way my clients see themselves and others around them by making their own health the priority. I always say to clients, "I look forward to introducing you to the new you". They discover amazing things about themselves which they never knew. These new discoveries are strengths which propel them to their highest potential.
What is one of your favourite healthy meals?
My favorite meal is any healthy fish and brussel sprouts off the BBQ. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Tastes great and easy to make!!
I like to use trout. I'll add avocado oil (sparingly) on both sides of the fish and then sprinkle "Chef Paul's Magic Salmon Seasoning" on it. BBQ or broil for 3-4 minutes each side until the skin is nice and crispy.
For the brussel spouts, I toss in avocado oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic and bake on a cookie sheet at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.
